Our farm is primarily a small scale, certified organic vegetable farm. We grow a wide range of vegetables for our Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) program and for selling at the Salmo Valley Farmer’s Market. From radishes and kale to carrots and tomatoes, we have planned a diverse selection for the whole growing season. We also use modern ‘season extension’ techniques and carefully chosen varieties to try and produce crops as early and as late in the season as possible. If you are interested in learning more about our 2018 CSA and how you can sign up, click here. The Salmo Farmer’s Market starts in late June, and runs from 4-7PM every Thursday at KP Park. Come visit us there and also check out some of the other great vendors!
We grow a few select crops for wholesale, which in 2018 will include head lettuce, baby and full size pac choi, rutabaga, turnips and herbs. Some businesses that we supply include the Kootenay Co-op, the Kootenay Bakery and Café, Gypsy Wagon Wood Fired Catering and the Kootenay Boundary Food Producers Co-op. If you have a business, café or restaurant, and are interested in buying wholesale quantities of certain vegetables, feel free to contact us. We are always open to trying new crops and varieties, and we will work with you to tailor our crop production to meet your needs!
In the previous years we raised a few pigs and a few hundred chickens for sale, which was generally a lot of fun. However, we have decided to focus on vegetable production for 2018 and hone our production systems. We hope to add meat animals back to our farm in the near future as our farm management skills grow. Finding an appropriate work/life balance is a juggling act that we are always trying to improve!
